Permanent makeup is used by women who want to present a made-up appearance, but do not want to invest the time and monetary cost into daily makeup application. Cosmetic tattooing is applied by cosmetic professionals, usually over several sessions. The results of the procedure are permanent, and removal of the application is impossible or extremely difficult, sometimes leaving scars or discoloration.
