Zaca Mesa Winery & Vineyards, ZacaMesa.com is an artisanal producer of Rhone varietal focused wines that are 100% estate grown and bottled using sustainable management techniques. It is also home to the oldest Syrah wines-cuttings brought over from Chapoutier in the Hermitage region of Northern Rhone-still in existence in California. The winery is environmentally focused and has a rich history.
Brook Williams hosted an evening of delicious food and wine pairings starting with a 2006 Viognier paired with giant stone crabs and an assortment of chilled seafood. Next came a 2004 Syrah which complimented the Lamb Chops to perfection. Of course we had many samples in between the courses of food and ended with the 2005 Z Three. “Acidity plays a powerful role in the successful matching of food and wine along with salt and sweet” Sais Williams. Balance in nature and balance in wine are closely related. Old wisdom has become new again as science supports what experience has shown us: the more care that is taken in the vineyard, the better the wines can be. The wines from Zaca Mesa Winery were most enjoyable and reflect the care and rich history.
