Is it WinterWalk or RiverFest?
Winterfest and Riverwalk Trust
join forces to bring the Boat Parade Downtown!
BocaRaton.com had the honor of traveling down the NEW RIVER along the intracoastal for a pre-tour for the SEMINOLE HARD ROCK WINTERFEST BOAT PARADE in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The downtown community is getting ready for this holiday season to enjoy Florida's Holiday Winterfest Boat Parade.
Winterfest’s recent announcement that the boat parade will start on the New River and travel up the intracoastal is tremendous for the downtown community. To have a unique, televised parade of this magnitude come downtown along the two miles of the Riverwalk is remarkable. After losing so many events in the downtown and along the Riverwalk over the years, we’ve been anxious to have positive activity back along the New River and the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade will hopefully not only remind leaders and promoters of the viability of the Riverwalk for major events, but also provide an excellent showcase and lend a legitimacy to having events back along the river.
The Riverwalk Trust urges all of downtown to get behind this event - decorate your businesses, sponsor an event, decorate your condominium or waterfront home and make sure you come out to watch the parade. Our opportunities to capitalize on this major development are endless, from decorating contests, to boat rides up the New River during the holidays to look at the lights, to finally lighting the Riverwalk Park in full holiday regalia, to developing a festival in the downtown during the evening of the Boat Parade.
