6th Annual Future Stars

ROTARY CLUB OF BOCA RATON ANNOUNCE JUDGES FOR THE 6TH ANNUAL FUTURE STARS PERFORMING ARTS COMPETITION SCHEDULED AS THE OPENING PERFORMANCE EVENT OF THE CELEBRATED FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS BOCA 2009 AT MIZNER PARK

The Rotary Club of Boca Raton has announced the judges for the 6th Annual Future Stars Performing Arts Competition scheduled as the opening performance event of the celebrated Festival of the Arts Boca 2009 at Count de Hoernle Amphitheatre. According to Doug Mummaw, co-chairman for 2009 Future Stars, the panel of judges will be Sharon Chudnow, Chloe Dolandis, Avi Hoffman, Janet Mathie, Anne Polajenko, and Jami Vass.

Sharon Chudnow, a returning Future Stars judge holds a Master of Fine Arts in Performing Arts from The University of Florida and is presently the Drama Director at the New Plumosa School of the Arts in Delray.

Chloe Dolandis, is a multi talented performer who graduated Summa Cum Laude from Florida Atlantic University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies; Arts and Humanities, and minor in Commercial Music and Communications.

Avi Hoffman, an award winning performer best known for his one man shows; Too Jewish?,& Too Jewish,Too? He has also performed on television and in motion pictures.

Janet Mathie received her degree from Adelphi University in New York. Janet is based in South Florida and owns and operates a successful dance studio.

Anne Polajenko is a French-born ballerina who received her training at the National Academy of Dance and at the famed La Scala Opera in Milano, Italy.

Jami Vass, a returning Future Stars Judge attended the prestigious Carnegie Mellon University’s program for Performing Arts. She is a performer and a director.

“The judges are true performing arts professionals that will contribute to our efforts in making this an incredible experience for this year’s performers and the audience at the 2009 Festival of the Arts Boca audience,” added Mummaw

Under the direction of Mike Berkman for the 6th consecutive year, The Future Stars Performing Arts Competition is presented by The Rotary Club of Boca Raton, a nonprofit service organization dedicated to “changing lives, building futures”, in conjunction with Flossy Keesely Dream Foundation, City of Boca Raton, Centre for the Arts, HSBC Bank, Miami Systems, Inc. General Contractors, and several other dedicated community partners. Rotary International is an organization of business and professional leaders united to provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

According to Mummaw and Rick Taylor, Future Stars co-chair and executive producer, rehearsals will take place on March 4th and all contestants will receive participation trophies. Finalists in each category will win a professional video DVD of their winning performance recorded at Multi Image Group Sound Studios in Boca Raton, cash prizes, and an invitation to perform again at Mizner Park on April 17, 2009 at the Flossy Keesely Dream Foundation Musical Showcase.

Developed and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Boca Raton under its Youth Services and Community Outreach Program along with the support of local businesses, friends, parents and other sponsors, the event is underwritten by a combination of donations and in-kind services.
